It was an early Sunday afternoon and I received a call from a business owner who was frantic. He walked into his building that morning with a feeling of helplessness as he examined the fire damage that had occurred overnight. Although the structural damage was mild, there was a considerable amount of soot and smoke damage throughout the facility. I assured the caller we would provide an immediate response and assist them every step of the way throughout this daunting process.
What Next?
Upon arriving on the scene, I met with the customer and toured their labor of love. The facility was not huge, it’s run by a handful of wonderful people whom all appear to be family but are not. Each of them looking at me for a determination, a timeline, hope! “How bad is it?” “Can we continue production?” “Will we be out of work?” “How can we help?”
These are just a few of the questions swirling around. It was in this exact moment that I start doing what I do best and initiating what SERVPRO does best. I begin to answer their questions. By listening intently, I learned what was most important to them and what priorities were at the top of their list.
Armed with their concerns and an understanding of how important their facility was to them, I began to plan, guide, recommend, project and most of all disperse resources. Almost immediately, the SERVPRO crews mobilize with equipment and begin their efforts to make the damage “Like it never even happened.”

The customers were looking at me for answers… regarding insurance, lost wages, lost revenue.
“How are we going to heat the building?” “What if the pipes freeze?”
